Swiss Life

My appointment at Swiss Life started with a UI review. It was quickly extended and grew to an overall UX competence team in which I was responsible for all matters relating to conceptualization and design from 2014 until 2017.

Concept and Design of the client portal (myWorld) including several adjoined web applications.

Our vision was to provide useful tools and define a process for quick prototyping of upcoming web-based calculators and lead funnels for the insurance business. The following tools and resources were conceived, designed and developed to facilitate this process:

  • Modular UI framework with all common and specific elements and patterns. This frontend toolbox also delivered the according code snippets for each element.
  • A dynamic style guide that worked as documentation and readable definition of all the visual elements.
  • A wireframe library containing all the UI elements already available in the toolbox.

For the continuous development of the platform, we defined the following process steps:

  • Workshop for the requirement definition
Conception and design of several solutions in the form of wireframes, screens-flows and prototypes.
  • If required we’d fine-tune the solution design as visual designs with real content prototypes, as a proof-of-concept, ready to test with end users.
  • The preferred version would then be implemented by the frontend team.
  • After the next roll-out, the delta of the frontend snippets would be integrated into the toolbox, documented in the style guide and the elements rolled out to the wireframe library.

These online interaction flows were developed based on this process and resources:

  • Login, profile and contract visualisation.
  • Simulations for retirement cases and life events.
  • Wizards for offers and lead processes.
  • Product and use case calculators.
  • Knowledge base and search for information.
Contact centre and channelling of contacts to the customer service.
  • Topic-focused landing pages.
  • Community with forum, FAQ, Blog and Ideation areas.

Besides the above-mentioned UX tasks, we also produced all marketing activities around the portal and initiated an in-depth customer satisfaction and usability survey.

This assignment has been acquired, supervised and handled, by me during my time as co-owner of Ratundtat GmbH. It was realized in cooperation with client-side teams and own employers. The pictures displayed show the project during development.
